I'm Shandi, the founder of Freewell. Today’s post is all about helping you fight your hair woes with little tricks I have discovered in my 16 years of doing hair and working with thousands of people like you.
Tip 1: Regularly clean out your hair dryer filter. If you don't do this, it can cause your dryer to overheat and singe your hair every time you use it.
Tip 2: Cancel, your clarifying shampoo subscription. Clarifying shampoo may seem like a good idea, but it strips your hair of all the good stuff and leaves you with super clean dried-out strands. I recommend shampooing 2x with a nourishing shampoo for a cleaner feel without the quick fix damage.
Tip 3: Skip the protein. Protein may be good for your body but it's not great for your hair. The over-use of protein-rich products can result in over-proteinized strands, causing hair to break. I recommend protein "dosing" instead and only do a treatment as needed (due to chemical damage or as advised by your stylist). I love Power Gloss because it has no protein so I can deep condition my hair any time, for up to 24 hours, and not worry about damaging my hair—and so can my customers and clients.
